J&K CM assures support to travel, tourism sectors
Srinagar, July 7: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today assured governmetn support to the growth of travel, tourism and business sectors, describing these as a key driver of the Union Territory’s economy.
He gave the assurance during a meeting at the Civil Secretariat with delegations from various travel and tourism associations who raised issues related to tourism promotion, increasing tourist inflow, improving ease of travel and enhancing the overall visitor experience in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation included representatives of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), SKÅL International Kashmir, the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) and the Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK).

Abdullah said his government is committed to creating an enabling environment for the tourism sector and assured the stakeholders that the issues raised by them would be examined sympathetically and addressed in a time-bound manner in coordination with the concerned departments.
Later, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Tariq Ghani also met the chief minister and discussed matters related to business, trade and tourism in the Union Territory.—(NVI)
