New Delhi, June 5: State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today announced that it has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth over Rs 21,000 crore, excluding GST, for the 3×800 MW Meja Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-II in Uttar Pradesh.
The company informed stock exchanges that it has received a Notification of Award (NOA) from Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL) for the EPC package of the project.
MUNPL is a joint venture between NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL).
Scope Of The EPC Contract
According to the company’s disclosure, the contract includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning works for the EPC package of the 3×800 MW supercritical thermal power project located in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.
The order was awarded through an international competitive bidding process, and BHEL received the notification from MUNPL on June 4, 2026.

Project Timeline
The project is scheduled to be completed within 70 months from the date of the award notification.
BHEL clarified that the contract does not qualify as a related-party transaction. The company said it will act as the executing agency for the project, while MUNPL, the project owner, is a joint venture between NTPC and UPRVUNL.
