Senior IFS officer Vipul appointed Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

New Delhi, June 3: Senior IFS officer Vipul has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia.

Vipul, a 1998-batch officer, is currently the Ambassador of India to Qatar.

He will succeed Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan who is set to complete his tenure as the Ambassador of India in Saudi Arabia.

Vipul, an expert in Arabic language, has been serving as the Ambassador to Qatar since 2023.

Earlier, he held the post of Joint Secretary (Gulf) in Ministry of External Affairs from 2020-2023.

Before that, he was Consul General of India in Dubai between 2017-20.

Vipul worked as Director/Joint Secretary with External Affairs Minister of India between 2014-2017.

He has also served in Indian Missions in Cairo, Colombo and Geneva.

In his diplomatic career, he has dealt with diverse areas, including political and commercial relations, development, disarmament, international security and media.

Vipul is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1994.

He also holds an MBA degree from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
