New Delhi, July 31: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) today said it has commissioned an additional 50 MW of solar capacity in Rajasthan under the 150 MW solar component of its 100 MW Renewable Energy Round-the-Clock (RE-RTC) project.
With this, the commercial operational capacity of the NGEL Group has increased from 10,786.56 MW to 10,836.56 MW.
The newly-commissioned capacity represents the third tranche of the solar project being developed by Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited, a subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, the joint venture between ONGC Green Limited and NTPC Green Energy.
The company said the latest commissioning strengthens its renewable energy portfolio and supports its strategy of expanding utility-scale clean energy capacity.
The RE-RTC project is designed to improve the reliability of renewable power supply by combining renewable energy sources and integrating energy storage technologies.
NTPC Green said such projects are expected to play a key role in enabling round-the-clock renewable electricity while enhancing grid flexibility and reducing dependence on conventional power during periods of lower renewable generation.
The commissioning follows a series of recent capacity additions in Rajasthan. Earlier, the company operationalised 62.5 MW of solar capacity across two projects, including 12.5 MW, which increased the commissioned capacity of a 150 MW solar project to 100 MW.
It also commissioned the second tranche of 50 MW under a separate 300 MW solar project, taking the cumulative operational capacity of that project to 200 MW.
NTPC Green said future renewable capacity additions will increasingly be supported by Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to improve dispatchability and grid stability.
The company has outlined plans to add around 6 GW of capacity annually between FY2032 and FY2037, with a balanced mix of renewable energy, conventional power and storage assets to support India’s clean energy transition. (BVI)
