Central Govt employees, pensioners to get additional DA
The decision was taken at a meeting of Union Cabinet
New Delhi, Apr 18: Central government employees and pensioners will get 2% as an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), respectively, with effect from January this year.
The 2% is above the existing rate of 58% of the Basic Pay/Pension and is to compensate against price rise.
The combined impact on the exchequer on account of increase in both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs.6791.24 crore per annum, said an official spokesman on the decision of the Union Cabinet.
This will benefit about 50.46 lakh Central Government employees and 68.27 lakh pensioners, he said.
This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, the spokesman said.
