TERI signs MoU with Rajasthan Govt Renewable Company for energy transition initiatives
Jaipur, May 27: The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), an enterprise of the Government of Rajasthan, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing renewable energy deployment, energy transition strategies, and sustainable development initiatives in Rajasthan.
The partnership aims to strengthen cooperation in areas including renewable energy, Agri-PV initiatives, energy storage solutions, grid integration, innovative policy frameworks, electric mobility, energy transition, emerging technologies, and capacity building initiatives.
Delivering the welcome address, RRECL CMD Dr Rohit Gupta underscored the vision of undertaking large-scale, replicable energy transition demonstration projects and emphasized the importance of engaging farmers, power offtakers, and other stakeholders to accelerate Rajasthan’s clean energy ambitions and foster sustainable growth.
He also highlighted that under this collaboration, RRECL and TERI will jointly undertake research and analytical initiatives, develop innovative financing structures, support pilot projects, organize stakeholder consultations, and promote knowledge exchange for sustainable energy development.
Key focus areas under the partnership include:
Energy storage technologies including battery energy storage
Grid integration studies involving renewable energy and electric vehicles
Innovative solar applications such as Agri-PV, Building Integrated PV, and rooftop integrated PV
Technical support for Distributed Renewable Energy Project Management System
Policy and regulatory support for accelerating renewable energy projects
Emerging technologies including smart distribution systems and digitization of renewable energy projects
Studies and implementation support for green belt/plantation requirements on designated government land during project development
Capacity building and stakeholder engagement initiatives
The collaboration is expected to contribute significantly towards Rajasthan’s renewable energy roadmap and support India’s broader commitments towards sustainable development and climate action.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the RRECL Headquarters in Jaipur in the presence of Dr Rohit Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), Government of Rajasthan and other senior officials and representatives from both organizations.
The MoU was formally signed on behalf of the RRECL by Yogendra Mathur, Director (Technical), and by Girish Sethi, Senior Director, TERI.
