Tenure of Agrawal as CBDT Chairman extended for 6 months

New Delhi, June 30: The government has extended the tenure of Ravi Agrawal as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) for six months.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) reappointed Agrawal on a contractual basis from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

A 1988-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer, Agrawal assumed charge as CBDT Chairman on 1 July 2024.

The latest extension will allow him to continue leading the apex direct tax administration body responsible for formulating tax policy and overseeing the administration of direct taxes in the country. (BVI)
