New Delhi, Aug 3: State-owned construction company NBCC (India) has got a contract to build 1,008 affordable housing units in Seychelles, expanding its international footprint and reinforcing India’s infrastructure partnership with the African island nation.
The project, known as the Île Aurore Housing Project, will be implemented under a USD 75 million line of credit extended by the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank).
The contract adds to NBCC’s growing portfolio of international projects across Africa, the Middle East and other regions.
The Navratna public sector enterprise has executed infrastructure and construction projects in countries including Mauritius, Maldives, Oman and several African nations.
The Seychelles project is expected to further strengthen NBCC’s position in overseas construction and project management consultancy services, a segment that has become an important component of the company’s long-term growth strategy.
The project comprises development of 1,008 affordable homes and is intended to support Seychelles’ efforts to improve housing availability for its residents.
Affordable housing has emerged as a priority area for many developing economies, creating opportunities for infrastructure companies with expertise in large-scale residential projects. (BVI)
