Maharashtra remains top FDI recipient, Karnataka sees increased inflows

New Delhi, July 24: Maharashtra has retained its position as the country’s largest recipient of FDI in the last financial year 2026-27, although its inflows declined during the year.

Meanwhile, Karnataka saw the near doubling of its FDI, which reached USD 13 billion.

The increased inflows were driven by strong investments in technology, data centres and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), reinforcing its position as one of India’s fastest-growing investment destinations.

Karnataka’s gains were led by sustained investor interest in technology-led sectors and the continued expansion of multinational companies’ GCC operations.

The state’s investment momentum was supported by rising demand for digital infrastructure, including data centres, alongside continued expansion of global technology firms.

Karnataka’s established technology ecosystem and skilled workforce helped attract large-scale overseas investments across IT and allied sectors.

The sharp increase in inflows highlights Karnataka’s growing role in India’s FDI landscape, with the state emerging as the fastest-growing major investment destination during FY26.

The continued expansion of GCCs is expected to further strengthen investment flows and employment generation in the state. (BVI)
