CRIS is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining most of the important information systems of Indian Railways and comes under the Ministry of Railways.
During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the CRIS Engineers Welfare Association (CEWA), which coincided with its 8th Foundation Day, office bearers of the association discussed matters related to employees’ rights, transparency, and overall welfare.
The event was attended by key office bearers including President Mukesh Chaubey, Media In-charge Brijendra Singh, Senior Vice President Arun Vyas, Vice President Prashant Pant, Secretary Raman Arora, Joint Secretary Jitendra Nagar, Treasurer Dharmendra Kumar, Joint Treasurer Yogesh Kumar, along with Executive Committee members Anil Chaudhary, Pooja Mehra, Rohit Yadav, Bhawna Meena, and Prayshi Pandey.
Media In-charge Brijendra Singh highlighted the organization’s achievements and future plans, stating that CEWA aims to ensure the welfare and protection of CRIS engineers’ rights while promoting effective use of information technology in the railway sector to achieve sustainable and inclusive development.
Concern Raised Over Insurance Amount
Expressing grief over the untimely demise of a senior employee, CEWA strongly criticized the current insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh, calling it inadequate.
The association pointed out that this amount has remained unchanged since 2007 and is no longer practical in the current economic scenario.
The association demanded that the insurance/compensation amount should be increased to a minimum of ₹1 crore to provide adequate financial security to the affected families.
Other Key Demands of CEWA
— Allocation of a permanent office space for the organization and mandatory quarterly meetings with CRIS officials.
— Ensuring transparency and uniformity in designation changes.
— Adequate representation of technical staff in GC meetings.
— Resolution of anomalies related to higher pension under EPFO and extending benefits to pre-2007 employees.
— Refund of incorrect EPFO deductions.
— Increase in house lease allowances and alignment of perquisites with DMRC, NR, and Railway Board standards.
— Reimplementation of health check-up policies as per earlier norms.
— Transparent process for compassionate appointments.
