New Delhi, Apr 22: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has joined hands with ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) to undertake a project aimed at enhancing green cover and aesthetics at selected locations, including central verges, areas under station structures, and other suitable spaces along metro corridors on pilot basis.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed which envisages that ICAR-IARI will provide technical guidance on the selection of plant species suitable for harsh and low-light conditions, having low watering requirements, along with suitable maintenance practices and periodic evaluation during the pilot phase.

The pilot project will be implemented for one year. All horticulture assets created will vest with DMRC, and project outputs will be used for internal evaluation and future planning.

This initiative reflects DMRC’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible infrastructure. (BVI)
