Commercial LPG cylinder price cut by Rs 183.50; Cost was hiked by over Rs 1,200 in 4 months

New Delhi, July 1: With effect from today, the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 183.50, after being hiked by over Rs 1,200 over the last 4 months.

The cost of the 19 remains significantly higher than the rate that existed before the Iran War began on February 28.

The price of 5 kg cylinder, called Free Trade LPG (FTL), has been reduced by Rs 13.

The cost of domestic gas cylinder remains unchanged.

The rates have been cut as part of the monthly fuel price revision against the backdrop of a steep fall in international prices of petroleum products.

The latest revision marks the first reduction in commercial LPG prices, which were hiked by over Rs 1,500 in phases over the last three months.

Cost of Commercial LPG Cylinder now

Following the cut, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi now costs Rs 2,930.

The cost of such a cylinder in February this year was Rs 1,741 when the prices were raised by Rs 49.

March saw another increase of Rs 115.

Then came the biggest shock in April, when prices were hiked by a staggering Rs 993 per cylinder.

On June 1, the price was increased by Rs 42, making the price Rs 3,114 per cylinder.

Prices in major cities

Delhi A 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder is priced at Rs 942, while a 19-kg commercial cylinder now costs Rs 2,930.

Mumbai  — A 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder costs Rs 941.50, while the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder stands at Rs 2,885.50.

Kolkata — A 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder is priced at Rs 968, while a 19-kg commercial cylinder costs Rs 3,081.50

ChennaiA 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder costs Rs 957.50, while the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder is Rs 3,100.

Chotu Cylinder

A 5 kg cylinder, also called ‘Chotu’,  now costs Rs 808.5 in Delhi, after reduction of Rs 13.

In February 2026, the retail price of a 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder was hiked by Rs 27 to make the cost Rs 821.50 in Delhi.

The steep hike in Commercial LPG prices had put a lot of pressure on restaurants, hotels, and roadside eateries.

No Relief For Household Consumers

While commercial users have reason to celebrate, domestic consumers will see no change in their cooking gas bills.

The price of the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been left unchanged across the country.

Oil companies revise LPG prices on the first day of every month, but domestic rates are often influenced by broader government policy in addition to international fuel prices.  (BVI)
