New EV Policy unveiled by Delhi Govt; Tax exemption, subsidies effective from July 1
New Delhi, June 29: With effect from July 1 (Wednesday), electric cars with an ex-showroom price of Rs 30 lakh or less and registered in Delhi will be eligible for 100 per cent exemption on road tax and registration fees.
Purchase of E-two-wheelers will have a subsidy of Rs 30,000 in the first year, Rs 20,000 in the second year and Rs 10,000 in the third year.
These and other provisions have been made in the new EV (Electric Vehicle) Policy of the Delhi Government unveiled by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today.
The policy, approved by the Delhi Cabinet, is aimed at making Delhi a pollution-free city by March 31, 2030, she said while addressing the media.
As part of the policy, with effect from January next year, only electric autorickshaws will be registered in Delhi.
Registration of new petrol and CNG two-wheelers will be phased out.
Only electric two-wheelers will be registered from April 1, 2028.
Gupta said that around Rs 15,000 crore will be invested under the new policy over the next four years to promote electric mobility and reduce vehicular pollution in the national capital. (BVI)
