Why Fuel Prices Differ Across States
Fuel prices in India vary from state to state primarily because of differences in Value Added Tax (VAT), transportation charges, and local levies imposed by state governments. Global crude oil fluctuations and currency exchange rates also play a major role in determining retail fuel prices.
