New Delhi, Mar 7: On the occasion of International Women’s Day tomorrow, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has crafted a special tribute.
It has deployed 5,100 women staff during day shifts at more than 1,140 toll plazas across National Highways and Expressways.
The initiative aims to create a more efficient, empathetic and user-friendly environment for commuters, while also helping reduce disputes at toll booths, NHAI said in a statement.
“Through this initiative, NHAI is generating employment opportunities for women, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, and strengthening their participation in the highway infrastructure sector.
“NHAI will also facilitate specialized training programmes for the deployed female staff, focusing on courteous user interaction, emergency response, safety protocols and efficient toll plaza operations,” it said.
Every year, March 8 is celebrated as the International Women’s Day.
