New Delhi, Jan 31 (BVI): Namo Bharat commuters can now book train tickets directly by clicking the IRCTC icon available on the Namo Bharat app.
Conversely, IRCTC passengers, after booking a train ticket with Delhi as their destination, can conveniently book Namo Bharat tickets by opening their booking details on the IRCTC Rail Connect app and clicking the NCRTC icon.
Currently, a 55-km section of the 82-km long Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor — from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South in Uttar Pradesh — is operational.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) have launched a seamless ticketing system, enabling commuters to plan and conveniently book their tickets for travel via Indian Railways and Namo Bharat.
This ensures end-to-end functional integration between the two platforms.
The integrated system offers a seamless booking experience and reduces the need for repeated data entry.
After booking an IRCTC e-ticket, the NCRTC ticket option is displayed on the PNR confirmation page and is also accessible from the train ticket booking history.
This pioneering collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s “One India – One Ticket” vision, which aims to make inter-modal travel simpler and more accessible for the commuters.
For instance, a commuter travelling from Meerut to Delhi by Namo Bharat can now easily book an Indian Railways ticket for his onward long-distance journey through the same integrated system.
After arriving at the Namo Bharat station at Anand Vihar, which is seamlessly connected to the Anand Vihar Railway Station, the passenger can directly board his train, making the overall journey smoother and more convenient.
NCRTC has also entered a similar collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently. The integrated ticketing system between NCRTC and DMRC allows commuters to book Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro tickets across each other’s mobile applications, further strengthening multi-modal connectivity in the region.
Through these initiatives, NCRTC continues to advance its vision of building a unified, efficient, and commuter-centric transport ecosystem for Delhi-NCR, one that is digitally enabled, environmentally responsible, and designed around the everyday needs of passengers.
Along with digital integration, physical integration at Namo Bharat stations is also being worked upon to ensure smooth and convenient interchange with Indian Railways, Metro, Bus Terminals, further enhancing the overall passenger experience.
As the corridor continues to expand, such integrations will play a key role in reducing congestion, saving travel time, and promoting sustainable mobility. (BVI)
