Foodgrain transported to Kashmir valley by rail for first time
Srinagar, Dec 23 (BVI) In yet another landmark development, the Indian Railways has transported foodgrain freight by train to Kashmir for the first time.
The first-ever Food Corporation of India (FCI)-sponsored foodgrain freight rake delivered the cargo at the Anantnag Goods Terminal.
The freight train from Ajitwal Station in Punjab carried approximately 1,384 tonnes of essential foodgrains loaded across 21 BCN wagons.
This journey marked the official commencement of direct sponsored foodgrain movement via rail to the Kashmir Valley.
