Maharashtra, Jul 9 (BVI): Ambuja Cements, a leading cement and building materials company, is enabling meaningful change in rural Maharashtra by providing access to skill training and employment opportunities. It has empowered underprivileged youth through placement-linked General Duty Assistant (GDA) training.
In Lakhmapur village, Pooja Ghodake, who came from a financially challenged family, enrolled in a General Duty Assistant course at the CSR funded Ambuja Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI) implemented by Ambuja Foundation in Upparwahi and is now working as a caregiver at Ajicare Home Health Services in Mumbai.
From lacking confidence to now contributing significantly to her family’s income, Pooja’s journey reflects the impact of structured, career-focused training. With an initial salary of Rs 21,000—now increased to Rs 25,000—she has become financially independent and is currently pursuing GNM to advance her career in healthcare.
