New Delhi, Sep 13 (BVI): Delhi Metro commuters can now book QR-based tickets directly on the Ixigo Trains App, following a new partnership between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), and Ixigo.
The integration allows passengers to pay in-app, skip queues, and plan end-to-end journeys across trains, buses, flights, hotels, and now metro, on a single platform.
First-time users booking between 9–11 am will also receive 100 per cent cashback (up to ₹50) in ixigo money.
Besides, in a significant step, DMRC has also signed a contract with Alstom Transport India Limited (ATIL) to enhance the reliability and performance of its oldest and busiest lines, the Red Line (Line-1) and Yellow Line (Line-2),
These lines, operational since 2002 and 2004 respectively, currently use Distance To Go (DTG) technology for signalling. This initiative underscores DMRC’s commitment to maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency on its critical metro lines.
The DMRC, which operates nearly 400 km of network across more than a dozen lines, remains India’s largest metro system.
In August 2025, it recorded its highest-ever single-day ridership of over 81 lakh passenger journeys.
Tapping into the next billion users, the Delhi Metro ticketing integration is part of ixigo’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its travel ecosystem and enhance daily commute.
The partnership with Alstom focuses on ensuring the availability of adequate onboard spares for the signalling systems and upgrading of existing data logging facilities for better root cause analysis of failures.
Under the contract, Alstom will also provide continuous backend technical support through their global experts for diagnosis and rectification of failures, and will carry out system Audits, etc. (BVI)
