Temporary restrictions on sale of petrol, diesel withdrawn

New Delhi, June 30: The temporary restrictions on the sale of petrol and diesel imposed by the government earlier this month have been withdrawn with effect from tomorrow.

According to an official order, normal fuel sales will be allowed to resume across the country from July 1.

The temporary restrictions had been placed in view of the disruption in the import of energy from West Asia because of the war there.

The measures were introduced as a precaution to safeguard domestic fuel availability amid concerns over disruptions to global energy supplies.

Under the restrictions, commercial consumers were barred from purchasing petrol and diesel at retail fuel stations, while daily diesel purchases were capped to prevent local shortages.

With the easing of supply concerns, the government has decided to revoke the temporary limits and restore normal fuel distribution. (BVI)
