Lucknow, June 9: A high-level meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal today approved detailed project reports (DPRs) for 17 projects aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure in urban areas, with a total estimated cost of ₹5,565.39 crore.
The projects, approved at the 18th State High Power Steering Committee (SHPSC) meeting under AMRUT 2.0, include four drinking water projects, 10 sewerage projects, and three Amrit Sarovar projects.
The approved drinking water projects include Sis Varuna Water Supply Scheme (Phase-1, Lahartara Zone), Sis Varuna Water Supply Scheme (Phase-1, Part-B, Chitpur Zone), Old Trans Varuna Zone Water Supply Scheme of District 2B and 2C and enhancement and expansion of water supply system in Old Sis Varuna area in the extended areas of Varanasi Municipal Corporation.
On completion of these projects, safe and regular drinking water connections will be available to about 1.75 lakh houses, an official statement said.
In the sewerage sector, approval was given to schemes of the Lahartara, Dinapur and Chitaipur zones of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation, as well as the Trans Varuna Sewerage Scheme in Zones 2B and 2C, the District-1 (Old Sis Varuna) Sewerage Scheme, the District-2A Sewerage Scheme (Old Sis Varuna), and the Trans Varuna Sewerage Scheme (Phase-1, Part-B) in the extended area of Lamhi Zone.
With the implementation of these projects, approximately 3 lakh households will benefit from sewerage connections, the statement said.
Three Amrit Sarovar projects were also approved in the meeting, which include development of the pond located near the ancient Nageshwar temple in Bulandshahr, development of the pond in the slum located in Tulsi Nagar of Lambua Nagar Panchayat of Sultanpur district and development work of Saidua pond in Barabanki.
The Chief Secretary said the projects approved under AMRUT 2.0 will further strengthen the drinking water, sewerage, and water conservation infrastructure in the state’s urban areas.
He directed the concerned departments to ensure timely and quality implementation of the projects so that citizens can receive prompt benefits.
