Uber offers €33/share for Delivery Hero as takeover battle heats up
New Delhi, May 24: Uber Technologies has made a takeover proposal to acquire Delivery Hero SE at €33 per share as it moves to expand its global food delivery footprint and strengthen its position against rivals like DoorDash Inc. outside the United States.
Delivery Hero confirmed it had received the indicative offer but said it remains focused on its ongoing strategic review. The offer is slightly below the company’s recent closing price, suggesting initial investor resistance and uncertainty around valuation expectations.
The development has intensified speculation of a broader bidding war, with reports indicating that some investors may push for a price above €40 per share, significantly higher than Uber’s current proposal.
Uber is already a major shareholder in Delivery Hero, and the proposed deal is seen as part of a wider strategy to consolidate its presence in the global delivery market through deeper ownership and operational integration.
