New Delhi, Jan 8 (BVI) Indian Railways will introduce 52 reforms in 52 weeks with the objective of bringing about systemic improvements in efficiency, governance and service delivery, the government said today.
The decision was taken at a crucial meeting held by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Ministers of State V Somanna and Ravneet Singh, with senior Railways officials including Railway Board Chairman & CEO Satish Kumar.
The reform-oriented steps are meant to focus on safety, AI and Tech boost, talent and training revamp, and food and catering upgrade among others, the government said.
In the meeting, it has been decided to bring major reforms in Railways, aiming for 52 reforms this year, the government said.
According to the Railways, there will be 52 reforms in 52 weeks to usher in systemic improvements in efficiency, governance, and service delivery.
The plan envisaged bringing the number of consequential train accidents down to single digit while accelerating AI and advanced tech use for safety, maintenance, and operations, it said.
The reforms also aimed at exploring innovative methods for talent management and skill development of employees, it added.
As far as food & catering is concerned, major reforms for better food quality, catering, and onboard services are in the offing, the Railways said.
