New Delhi, Dec 8 (BVI) ‘Dhurandhar’, the action-spy movie, has put Ranveer Singh back at the centre of big-screen attention. The new action thriller draws from real incidents linked to RAW and intense geopolitical flashpoints.
Dhurandhar is set against the backdrop of the 1999 IC-814 Kandahar hijack and the 2001 Parliament attack, the first part of the film packs a lot more. The second part is expected to be released in March 2026.
The events based on Operation Lyari, a crackdown on gangs and crime syndicates in Karachi’s Lyari region, the 121-minute movie, is however, a bit longer and could have been shortened to 3 hours only.
With outstanding music and sharp cinematography, the film is written, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, and Dhurandhar also marks the first collaboration between Dhar and Ranveer.
The film’s most catchy line comes at the end when Ranveer Singh’s character in the Dhurandhar end credit says, “Ye naya Bharat hai, ye ghar mein ghusega bhi aur maarega bhi.”
The film brings together a large ensemble, with Ranveer Singh leading a cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
Each actor plays characters tied to different layers of the security establishment, criminal networks and political interests, reflecting the complex backdrop of Operation Lyari.
The movie possibly ranks among the longest feature films made in Indian cinema. (BVI)
